We are the youth group at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Tyler, TX. We have nights for middle school and high school youth, focused on Scripture and the Eucharist. We also have social nights and service nights, an opportunity to grow community outside our weekly meetings! We welcome students of all faiths from all schools.
Our mission is simple; to create authentic disciples in a world desperately in need of Christian role models. We not only teach the important aspects of the Catholic faith, but also how they apply to our lives as teenagers in a secular world. We focus on the why, not just the what. We are a youth group, not a theology class, and promise our nights will feel like that. Featuring games, food, community, Scripture, and sacraments - our nights are both fun and filling. We look forward to seeing you there!

Steubenville South Re-Cap!
Julia, a senior at Bishop Gorman Catholic High School, and Jasmine, her sisiter, a sophomore shared, "What my sister and I experienced at Steubenville South was completely unexpected. There were constant songs of worship played throughout the weekend, as well as several daily inspirational talks. It was eye opening to see so many young Catholics at a retreat for the purpose of growing closer to God and going deeper in the faith. We both took something of importance away from this trip, whether that be the information from the talks, or the beautiful relics placed in the hall, there were many ways to be impacted at Steubenville South."

My desire for your child is that when coming to ICY, he or she feels welcomed into a community of peers and mentors through fun and engaging activities, has an opportunity to wrestle with the deeper questions of life in a safe and truly Catholic environment, and utilizes the opportunities provided to engage in service to the community as well as sharing their faith in word.
While our weekly meetings will involve a lot of fun, we will have an opportunity to dive into discussion-led content prepared by me, the youth minister, and provided by the St. Philip Institute. I will be using a curriculum designed specifically for the youth and written by Fr. Justin Braun. Don't worry, this will not be like a lecture or attending a class! The content I use and modify specifically for your child, covers relevant and necessary topics that your child may not ever receive fully in a classroom setting or from a homily at mass. My hope is that you'll see a transformation in your child after attending ICY!
Finally, the theme for this year's weekly content is Prayer and Discernment. As our youth are constantly bombarded with ideas from the world that will supposedly make them happy and give them "all the answers," we need to be there, ready to give them the true answer and true path to happiness: Jesus Christ. By discussing with and teaching the youth about prayer and discernment, we give our youth THE way of knowing Jesus and knowing the Lord's will for their life.
